Tuesday 11th May

Today i printed all my final work and mounted them up ready for my presentation next week.

Wednesday 5th May

Today i made ruff designs for t shirt, i used an image off the internet to draw around the t shirt and jumper. I add different colours, added the logo and some information about about the company awell.

Tuesday 4th May

Today i looked on the internet at boats and choose one from the ferry boat company and started drawing around the outline in Illustartor with the pen tool. I designed three different boats and choose one as my final one. I choose colours that go with the logo and lined the logo with the shape of the boat.

Friday 30th April

Today i went in to add and change some bit me and Oli find wrong with my stationary sets. I also printed them out ready for mounting up.

Wednesday 28th April

Today i designed my second stationary set in In Design. i changed the layout i aliened all the text to the right. I liked this layout alot better than the first one, i also used one of the waves from my logo. I really liked using In Design it layouted all the stationary right, and was easy to use.

Tuesday 27th April

Today i created the first draft of my stationary set in In Design. I used the wave from my logo to create a boarder at the bottom of the page and i centered all the information. i completed my stationary set i think it looks good as a set however I'm not sure about the layout, i have another design which i will create tomorrow and then see which one look better.

Thursday 22nd April

Today i stayed after my tutor lesson to start doing some research into good and bad stationary design, as i need to create an A4 letter head, a compliments slip and an business card. They all need to look like a good set. I looked on the Internet at different design some gave me ideas for my layouts. I then started designing my own stationary set. I really enjoy doing this type of work.

Wednesday 21st April

In today's lesson i was the only person in, which helped me as i was able to finish my final logo in illustrator. I choose the right colours and i new typeface as i didn't think the other one was to fat and sponged.

Sunday 4th April

Over the weekend i choose my final logo design and add a sortable typeface. I play around with the colour ready to show Malcolm tomorrow.

Wednesday 31st March

In today's lesson i continued with my designs for my logo i use marker and my layout pad to create these. I spoke with Oli he told me some of the ones i like which really help me go in the right direction. I constituted on the shape of the wave and the typeface. I will carry on with these design over the weekend as i did a final design soon so i can create it in illustrator.

Tuesday 30th March

In the week i worked on designs for the signage for the boat company i showed the design ideas to Malcolm we chose a few that we liked the idea of spoke about what i can do next. Then went away did some more research and came up with more ideas based on water and waves. I looked on the Internet at water logo and different shapes that reappearance water and waves. I am very happy with my first lot of ideas and have a clear idea of where i need to go next with them and to keep on developing my ideas ready for tomorrows lesson with Oli.

Wednesday 24th March

Wednesday we had a lesson starting at Bur Ashon with Sam Thomson. Then we made our way back to Wise for our lesson with Oli but he was out sick. However i used to time to research the harbour and get some images for reference for logo designs.

Tuesday 23rd March

Today's lesson we got split up into in to group i was working with Louise, Dan, Dave and Heshaam. We started brain storming on ideas for our boat company name. We looked on the Internet for inspiration and also at our photos and notes from the harbour visit. We came up with over 20 ideas then we had to get them down to 6. To do this we had to start thinking about the logo design to go with the name, so we got rid of the ones which wasn't well related to boats or harbour and was hard to think of some quick logo ideas. We finally decided on Harbour Link as our name, it's well related with the place and where it is also i think the way the boats drop off from place to place which comes across in the name Link.

Thursday 20th March

London visit was canelled, so i went on the internet looking for other events and exbitions coming up. I found a graphic fair in London at Somerset House starting 23rd April to the 3rd of May.

Wednesday 17th March

Today was the visit to Bristol harbour side, we'd been here once before on a trip but that was for a different project. The reason for going to the docks was to collect research and images too help us get started on our final project given to us yesterday. Oli started us off by giving us information about the three man boat companies on the harbour. we then collected any leaflets or took images of the boats and there signal. we then spoke to the driver of the Bristol Ferry boat company, and i took a photo of there jumper as there had there logo printed on it. we also found out Oli designed the logo for this company. then we took a walk down the harbour taking photos of boats and there ways of adverting like signs and broads. This trip helped me get ideas on what my logo needs to have. I found out there are three boat companies, Bristol ferry boat company, Bristol Packet and Number 7 boats. They all have there own signal and there boats are different colours. also with our logo they need to work on both sides of the boats. Now i need to go back and find out more about the harbour and the transport around it.

Tuesday 16th March

Today was our presentation for our last two weeks workshop i was very happy to show my work to the class. In the afternoon we got introduced to our final project, we have to come up with a name from a boat transport company and develop it into a corporate identity which needs to be applied to a A4 letterhead, business card, ferry liveries, signage and staff uniforms they are a must. We can also add it to any other advertisement ways we think will work. For next week we need to think of a few starting names for the company.

Wednesday 3rd March

Todays afternoon lesson with Oli was good, i looked at logo books to get some ideas for my designs. I photo copied the pages and put them into my resoure file so i can go back to them. i then choose two of the names i liked and created spider digram to record my ideas for the names. I then spoke to Oli and he said to choose which one i am going to design a logo for and start by drawing small ideas on paper. I am really enjoying this workshop i really like logo design so this is good for me.

Tuesday 2nd March

Today was the end of our two weeks task on the perfume boxes. We presentation them to the class i then got some feedback on them, like i need to think about pattern as well text. I found this feed back useful as i didn't really no if i had to add lots of colour or pattern. I then went away and completed more designs adding pattern, i also did some on the computer they were allot earlier to do as i could use references from the Internet. In the afternoon we got our third and final two week task to design a logo of one of the names on the sheet and it has to able to look good in colour and black and white. I really like the sound of this task. I now meed to do some research into logos and choose which name I'm going to do the logo for.

Wednesday 24th February

Today i had a group talk at bur Ashton with Sam Thomson. We talked about our research project. This made me a bit late to oli lesson in the afternoon where we continued with our logo and design work. I choose different typefaces for six perfume names and started created my designs. I research different images relating to the names of the perfumes to give me ideas for the box. I also looked at other perfumes boxes.

Tuesday 23rd February

Today we continued with our symbols and logo work. Our second task was to use colour and text to create a good design for a perfume box, i was a bit confused with how it should look and what it should have on it so Malcolm explained it to me and i find it easier to understand. After that talk i started choosing the right typeface that i thought best suited the name. i then choose the right colour and drew them up with marker pens in my layout pad. I liked the look of the text but i think it will look better adding patteren, different shapes and size, so i now need to do some research on things related to the names im using to help me create better designs.

Tuesday 9th February

Today i completed my magazine layout in In Design, i find it very easy to use. I thought it was very good to use for layouts as you can use rulers to create outline on where things go. i am very happy that i have learnet alot of new skills today.

Wednesday 3rd February

Wednesday afternoon we had a lesson with Oli and he showed us how to create a double page spread in In Design for our magazine layout from the last module. He went though step by step how to create two facing pages,he showed us how to use the rulers and how to text wrap an image into the text. We then looked on a web site were we can use a latin text called Lorem Ipsum to fill our text boxes for our layout. I find this lesson really intersting as i've only used In Design once before so i learnet alot of things i dont know i could do on there.

Tuesday 2nd February

Today we continued with our work for the workshops, to be presented for next Tuesday. We all worked around the table doing marker work or on the Macs creating new designs. We also had one to ones getting feedback one our first module of work. I was happy with my feedback as i didn't get a very good grade percentage. I was disappointed with my final grade but didn't except it to be any higher as i had a few problems in the first semester. I now know i need to do a lot more work and research to supported my designs, i achive a better grade.

Wednesday 27th January

Today's lesson i started working on the first task of the workshop, i used Photoshop to create my first lot of designs. I used the magic wand tool to select the letters the copied an image from the Internet and then selected paste into. This let me place the image with in the letters. We also had a presentation on Onomatopoeia which oli showed us some examples and designers watch use it.

Tuesday 26th January

First lesson back after hand in. We started looking out the module hand book for SP2. Malcom spoke though the book giving us a ruff idea of what we needed to do. Then he gave us our first two week workshop sheet with three tasks on it. Reading though the sheet the tasks seem like fun and very creative. After lunch we got our provisional marks back i wasn't very happy with my grade but i was happy with my feed back and now i know were i need to improve. For this module i need to do a range of research and link it to my work. I also need to organize my time and do more work out of lessons. For the afternoon lesson we started having a go on In Design and had to take insturctions from a leaflet mark up and design it in In Design. I've used In Design before but only for small things i learnet alot of new skills today.
